Happy New Year from the Moose. Thursday January 1.
It appears we must be CLOSED again through this weekend.
Check back in the mornings to be sure. We make the call by 7:30 a.m. to give staff time to mobilize.
The forecast calls for extreme cold through the weekend, with loss of inversions, and temperatures dropping to -50f and possibly -60!
It has been the longest, deepest cold wave in Moose Mountain’s 33 year history, causing closures every weekend in December.
It was the 8th coldest December in Fairbanks’ 120 year history.
If you can, stay home. We’ll see you again when its “warmer”.
