SUNDAY, JAN 26
For the first time in our history “the Moose” will remain CLOSED for an entire weekend due to rain. Our shredding friends at Skiland gave it a go yesterday and we salute them for opening.
We have a road problem though, and as long as our road to the top is solid ice, and it continues to rain, and it has not been below freezing at any altitude for 4 days, we can not justify busing you to the top, and we are also concerned about the sloppy, crusty snowpack, making skiing/boarding and rescuing injured shredders extremely difficult.
We apologize to our passholders, employees, bus drivers, and visitors. This extended event is a one-off for Fairbanks and out of our control. We just can’t justify risking busing and skiing in these conditions. We are confident that we can prepare the roads and runs for next weekend’s safe re-opening, and we look forward to seeing you then.
