Good morning from the Moose! It’s a deep powder Friday with over 8″ of nice dense new snow after the brief period of rain on Tuesday evening. First bus at 10, last bus 3:30.
Temperatures have cooled into the teens from Fairbanks to Cleary Summit, there’s no wind, and we expect an epic powder day.
We are fortunate to have received this instant “save” from the icy condition that would have existed if it had continued to rain. Residents on the mountain report only a brief period before it began to dump heavily, and we have stayed off of it to let it cool and dry. Yesterday it was crust free and so tempting to give it a try, but we have done our best to preserve it for today. We expect one of the best powder days of the season.
This is our typical “all powder” opening. Very little is groomed, so we recommend that beginners wait until Saturday. The Bear Cub beginner tow will be operating, and it is also powder if you really want to give it a try.
